Seascale Result

Our return home match against the Kestrals was played in warm, showery conditions.
Team selector Joe came up trumps again with only one result worse than Captain Roy Williams' half giving a 6.5 - 1.5 win to the Sandpipers.
I did report that we had a 100% record but when I checked back I see that we lost 3 - 5 at Seascale. Unfortunately I'm not available for the forthcoming Monday matches against Maryport and Workington.

Tuesday 26th July

On what was probably the hottest Sandpiper day of the year, with a light north easterly breeze and plenty of sunshine, we had one of the biggest turnouts of the year so far (33) for the John Eilbeck Trophy.
Brian Taylor secured the win with 40 points on count back from Ian Porter. Club and Sandpiper handicaps adjusted accordingly.
There were a few Sandpiper handicaps that have risen after this competition, so please check before you play your next round of golf. They should have been posted on the Sandpiper notice board.

Thursday 21st July

23 Sandpipers turned out today, on what turned out to be a pleasantly warm but slightly overcast day, with a slight north easterly breeze.
Joe Holmes took 1st place with 40 points (obviously he picked up a few tips on his visit to the “Garden of England” last weekend), the 'in form' David Low came second with 39 points (I’m not bitter at all). Handicaps adjusted accordingly.
Brian and Stuart Jones were out playing some golf today, (not with the Sandpipers but it was nice to see them). They now know what’s it’s like to be caught up behind the Sandpipers.

Thursday 14th July

For various reasons only 12 Sandpipers made it today in a breezy south westerly wind but warm, sunny & dry. Nice change to be playing in shirtsleeves and seeing the Pros down south at Royal St Georges with jumpers and wind protective clothing on.
David McCrum  1st with 36 points. Handicap 17 to 14
Sandy Tonner  2nd on countback with 36 points. Handicap 13 to 11

Brampton v Sandpipers Result

Not the same margin of victory as our home match as it came down to the last pairing (our two bankers) to secure the result.
Good weather, good course, good food and our unbeaten record this season remains intact.
