Seniors Open 15th Aug 2024

The decision was taken at around 7.00 am, that due to the severe and worsening rain and wind, the event had to be cancelled. The system generated an e-mail to all entrants  ( 154 ) but unfortunately a few ( approx 12 ) turned up due to the distance they were travelling.  All entrants will receive a full refund. Due to other commitments, the event cannot take place at any other time this year. Thanks to all who support this event. 

J W Banks Trophy

The words of Clark Black, our competition secretary, on WhatsApp. “Well done T.Bunn.  So pleased it’s you as I can save some money on the engraving there.” and the words of some of his playing friends “ not again!”, were outnumbered by congratulations to Terry Bunn for winning with 35 points. Brian Taylor was second ( again ) with 34 points. The weather was very disappointing with rain showers and gusts of 30 mph. However 21 struggled round. 

Thanks to birthday boy Roger Cutts who came along at the end and bought us a celebration drink.

No sooner have we completed one match there's another round the corner, in this case the next Monday. Last match of this busy but successful summer season is upon us at Penrith, no reciprocal match at home this year, maybe next year. Team Pairs:

Very good hosts, good conditions both weather and course, nice meal with friendly welcoming atmosphere, but with competitive games played in the right spirit. Unfortunately, despite the many positives we still lost 3.5 to 4.5. However, over the 2 games we came out victorious. Well done Team Sandpipers.

 Match Result V Powfoot away 8th August

Very good away result at Powfoot, 4 all draw well done team outstanding. Weather was kinder than forecast and course in really good condition, I understand to rough was rough! Well played guys.

Tuesday 6th August

Another glorious day ( after a night of more heavy rain ) saw 25 play in round 7 of the Summer League.  A stiff westerly wind made the front nine a bit harder and slower greens than usual caught a lot of us out. The eventual winner with 35 points was Robert Fletton (30)and enjoying second place after a countback, as he did last week, was John Wraight (8) with 34 points. Gordon Shaw won nearest the pin on the 9th.
