Workington v Sandpipers Result

We didn't fare too well on Workington's home turf but a 6.5 - 1.5 loss was enough for us to retain the Shanks Trophy. Congratulations to the catering staff for providing an excellent meal.

Tuesday 4th July

Only thirteen took part today as fifteen were enjoying an away trip. A strong west wind kept scores down but Eddie Varah did well with 38 points (19 - 15) with Jonathon Derry scoring 37 after birdies on the first two holes (14 - 12).

Joe is still one short for the away match at Workington next Monday. 

Thursday 29th June

Twenty seven of us suffered a nasty shower early on in the round followed by a strong west wind. Ian Hind won with 42 points (28 - 22) and Bob Finlinson second with 38 (16 - 13). Next Tuesday is likely to be quiet with quite a few Sandpipers over in the North East.

Apparently thirteen started today but not that many completed the course. John Wraight and Gordon Shaw were made of sterner stuff, John scoring 34 points (10 - 8) and Gordon 32 (12 - 11).
