Tuesday 12th October Result

Another successful Texas Scramble thanks to Brian Taylor's organising skills and 23 competitors. Conditions were calm and sunny with Peter Taylor, Clive Milburn and myself returning a winning nett 59.33 and loss of two shots each. 

Sandpiper Championship

Congratulations to Andrew on becoming the 2021 champion.

I have donated the £100 Sandpiper Championship prize to the Fight Bladder Cancer charity. Bladder Cancer affects about 10,000 new people in the UK every year and the treatment and consequences can be spread over many years. The charity aims to help research and provide support to sufferers. I know that this is a subject which will resonate with several current and former Sandpipers.

Thursday 7th October

Just thirteen played today when the strong north wind was the worst enemy with a little bit of damp thrown in. David Low won with 37 points and Antonio Gerbino second with 36. Please check your Sandpiper handicaps on our notice board before setting out. Next Tuesday we have a popular Texas Scramble.

Brindley Salver Result

Understandably, only five pairs went out in drizzle blasted by a north wind. Thank you to Willie Smith who volunteered to mark a card for the (odd) couple John Parker and Gilmour McKellar who won the Brindley Salver with 37 points.

Main points from the AGM were the team colours remain unchanged, Gilmour will run an eclectic next season on Thursdays to encourage higher numbers and the old chestnut of slow play discussed at length.

The minutes will be published in due course.

A reminder that the £5 subs are now due and it would help if anyone not wishing to renew membership would advise Jim.

Tuesday 5th October

Please note and make all your contacts aware that the Brindley Salver Greensomes commences at 9.00am (not the 9.40 in the club calendar). This will be followed by the AGM but should inclement weather prevent golf the AGM will proceed about 1.00pm. No formal proposals have been received but please inform Brian if you wish a particular item to be discussed (ie bug resistant team shirts). 

Saxons v Celts Result

The Celts, assisted by several players of dubious lineage managed to recoup the missing trophy by four games to two.

Thursday 16th September Result

Another great day for golf, Brian Taylor and Andrew Edwards both having 36 points. Brian won on the back nine and goes from 15 to 12. Andrew loses two shots and now plays off 11.
