Beckfoot Traffic Lights

The Allerdale office of the County Highways Department inform me that they are unable to undertake any work to counteract the erosion that threatens to undermine the road until Natural England have completed an impact assessment that any work may have on the local wildlife and habitat.
it appears that no timescale has been allocated so the road may go before it gets fixed!!!

Seniors Open

The Seniors Open started in very wet conditions with the first groups going out in some very heavy showers.
As the day progressed the conditions improved and the sun did come out for a while.
The best result of the day came from the first group out, J Maddison of Silloth with 43 points.

Congratulations to Sandy Tonner, winner of the Sandpipers Trophy with 37 points.
Also in the prizes from the Sandpipers: J Gibson 37 pts, R Cutts 35pts and D Low 33pts.

Thanks to Geoff Waite and John Tudor for their efforts through  the day inputting the scores and updating the leader board.
Also thanks to Joe Holmes (Competition Secretary), and Brenda Gibson for her assistance with the computer and final results sheets.

Tuesday 21st August

Once again the difficulty of the course got the better of most of the twenty six players who turned out today and was reflected in the scores.
Robin Binny won with 34 points, one ahead of Geoff Scott.
This Thursday is Silloth Seniors' Open and I'll certainly be taking a few extra balls with me, having lost four today.

Tuesday 14th August

Twenty three turned out today and three scored more than 36 points.
Trevor Wilson won the Carrick Trophy with 39 points, Grant Anderson came second with 38 and Tony Davis just missed out with 37.
The course is in good condition but the rough is very punishing for anything off line.

Tuesday 7th August

Twenty two contested the Ronnie Thompson Trophy in blustery conditions.
Sandy Tonner was the only one to break ninety gross and carded a creditable nett 70.
Joe Campbell was second with 72 nett.

Maryport Match Result

Terry Stubbs captained the Sandpipers against Maryports Bankenders.
Off to a bad start, the Sandpipers were 5 down before the tail end rallied
to take the last 4 matches.
