Match v Brampton Away Result
Belated report and very short, 6.5 to 1.5 loss - first of the season. I understand there were some close matches but on a course very different to our own home advantage makes a huge difference. However, a chance to put things right, our re-arranged match against Workington this week at home - Thursday.

Match v Powfoot
What a result ! 8 - 0 great win Team Sandpipers, not lost a match so far this season. Weather was much better than forecast, that's Silloth. Special thanks to those members who stepped in to ensure we had a team, particularly David Low, Roger Coy, Joe Holmes and Vince. Brampton away this Wednesday, picturesque course and very different to Silloth, so tough test awaits the team. Best of luck.
Tuesday sees our next competition - Tommy Anderson 5 Club - stableford. Choose those clubs wisely! This format has produced some excellent results in the past. Enjoy.
09.40 Colin Campbell, David Frit
09.50 Gilmour McKellar, Jon Derry
10.00 Terry Bunn, David Blain
10.10 Gordon Shaw, Jim Johnson
10.20 Dave Atherton, Tim Herbert
10.30 Vince Ross, Tom Borthwick
10.40 Howard Foster, Eddie Varah
Reserve: John Parker

Walters Cup - Greensome
A successful Greensome, in pleasant conditions, was organised by Clark Black in which 22 took part. Not only did Clark stand down and play as a marker for a two ball, but he organised a nearest the pin at the 9th with a sleeve of balls as the prize. We thank Clark for his contribution today. Steve Whitehead won nearest the pin and a pairing of Bob Finlinson and David Frith won the competition with 44 points which was 4 points more than the nearest in the pack. ( they both lose 2 shots)

Home Match v Brampton 6th June
and other things!
Very good result against a strong Brampton team and in somewhat poor weather conditions, 4 all draw, well done guys not lost a match so far ππ.
Looking forward:
Next Tuesday 11th June, The Walters Cup, Greensome format or as they say "don't say sorry format!". Always a good competition with interesting results. Just remember some of those great Ryder Cup games.
Next Thursday, 13th June, home match against Powfoot GC. Proving to be a wee bit of a problem selection wise. Fortunately, big Joe Holmes stepped in to cover a previous withdrawal, however, yesterday further 2 players have withdrawn, Grant (injury) and Jim Johnson (other commitments), now 2 players short and with no reserves not looking good! Anyone available please let me know ASAP π️♂️π️π️♂️, 3 or 4 players would be greatπYOUR TEAM NEEDS YOUπ

John Norton Trophy Result
Constant wind in mid 20's with gusts over 30 mph did not put 16 hardy souls off competing for the John Norton Trophy. Neither did the very sharp showers that blew from the north west. The conditions were not conducive to great golf but the man who now has his name on the trophy for 2024 is Brian Taylor with a stronger back nine (wind assisted 21 points) giving him a total of 34 points (Sandpiper -2 to 10). A not so close second, with 31 points, was Terry Bunn. ( Sandpiper -1 to 12 ).
