 I'm informed that the Sandpipers won in poor weather conditions.

Thompson Memorial Trophy Result

Thirty two played in our only medal competition and experienced a downpour that lasted for about twenty minutes. Clive Milburn turned in a remarkable nett 65 (21 - 19) with John Gibson second with 69 (21 - 20). Next Tuesday is the Carrick Trophy competition.

Thursday 20th July

Twenty eight played in increasingly windy conditions. Steve Whitehead excelled with 41 points (17 - 12) and Terry Bunn second with 38 (17 - 13). Several players received two shots back. 

Thursday 13th July

Looking at today's scores the conditions must have been more challenging than they seemed. Howard Foster won with 36 points (10 - 7) and Clive Milburn second with 33 (22 - 21). Twenty six took part.

John Eilbeck Trophy Result

 A strong west wind made the going tough on the front nine and a heavy shower caught the last two fourballs. Twenty six played with Howard Foster taking second place with 37 points (11 - 10) and I was lucky enough to score 40 points (18 - 16) to win the coveted Eilbeck Trophy.

Workington v Sandpipers Result

We didn't fare too well on Workington's home turf but a 6.5 - 1.5 loss was enough for us to retain the Shanks Trophy. Congratulations to the catering staff for providing an excellent meal.

Tuesday 4th July

Only thirteen took part today as fifteen were enjoying an away trip. A strong west wind kept scores down but Eddie Varah did well with 38 points (19 - 15) with Jonathon Derry scoring 37 after birdies on the first two holes (14 - 12).

Joe is still one short for the away match at Workington next Monday.
