Covid 19

Harry Wright has tested positive today and as he played yesterday he recommends anyone who is concerned should self test. He went straight home so hopefully minimum contact. He has very mild symptoms with a cold and slight dry cough and no idea how he could have become infected.
Ian Porter is in hospital awaiting tests today so hopefully better news later.

Tuesday 28th December

Charles Woodhouse put in the best card of eighteen players with 37 (29 - 26) beating Tommy Neilly on countback (27 - 25). Hard to believe how benevolent the conditions were for the time of year.

Merry Christmas

Only four of us went out yesterday so we didn't get chance to wish everyone the season's greetings. Hope you all enjoy yourselves and for those who aren't able to play next week, health and prosperity in the new year. Malcolm Platts has been in touch and sends his best regards to everybody.

Tuesday 14th December

Congratulations to Brian for organising today's bottle trot. Eight teams of three played in chilly and windy conditions and a roomfull stayed for the presentation. Everyone was a winner, some luckier than others. Gilmour sends the season's greetings to everyone and a cautionary warning that he won't be around for a while because in spite of being careful his partner has gone down with the bug. Let's hope it's only a mild infection.

Bottle Trot and Road Closure

First the good news - as the forecast looks good the bottle trot will be held tomorrow (Tues 14th), entry fee £2.00. The other news is a road closure by Maryport cemetery meaning traffic to Allonby and beyond will have to find an alternative route.

Thursday 9th December

Another decent day with eighteen players. Willie Smith and Grant Anderson both had 35 points. Willie (32 - 30) won on countback, Grant just loses one shot (20 - 19).

Annual Prize Giving and Meal

This year's celebration was very well attended and an enjoyable success thanks to Brian for re-organising  the schedule at short notice, Bob Finlinson for a challenging general knowledge quiz and Harry who's photographs will be enjoyed in due course. Liam and his staff provided meals of the usual high quality.
Although one or two ventured out I think it was generally accepted that postponing the bottle trot was sensible given the rain and gale force winds.

Tuesday 7th Bottle Trot

I think this is the message everyone was expecting. In view of the horrendous weather forecast the Bottle Trot has been postponed until next Tuesday (weather permitting) and the following arrangements for the meal have been made.
Please assemble at one 1.00pm for your meal which has been brought forward to around 1.30pm.
The prize giving and quiz will go ahead as normal.
The Sandpipers tee is still reserved for 9.00am for anyone wishing to venture out.
Not everyone is on my mailing list so please spread the word.

Of the thirty names for our social next Tuesday, quite a few have indicated that they will be attending for the meal but not playing golf. To help Brian assess the number of bottles required for prizes could those wishing to play (weather permitting) please indicate on the list next to their names by the weekend.
