Tuesday 27th October

Twenty three struggled against a stiff easterly on the back nine plus David Frith who joined today and is currently getting three cards together for a handicap.
Geoff Waite had the best back nine of  four 34s with David McCrum second.
Jim Johnson made a welcome return and was permitted to go out near the end of the field.
Next Tuesday our tee time reverts to 10.50am and I noted that there was barely enough light left to play at 4.30pm today.

Tuesday 20th October

I've been battling "man flu" this week so just a brief report. Twenty three played , David Low won with a sensible 35 points followed by Mike Mapleton with 33.
Ian Porter is back in action after last weekend's scare.

Thursday 15th October

The sun shone again and David McCrum and Roger Cutts came first and second out of nineteen. Good to see the return of both John Tudor and Willie Smith, and I understand Jim Johnson continues to make progress. Less fortunate is Ian Porter who is in Carlisle hospital for overnight observation after going to A&E this morning with tightness in the chest. Let's hope it's just a hiccup.

Tuesday 13th October

Twenty wasn't the ideal number for today's Texas Scramble but Brian Taylor organised the six teams well so that only four points separated the final scores, Roy Williams, Clive Milburn and Edward Harle winning by 1/3rd of a point.
No more official competitions now until our Bottle Trot and Christmas "Do" on the eighth December.

Thursday 8th October

Shirt sleeve weather for today's eighteen but wasn't reflected in the scores with David Barnes' 34 beating Alan Heywood on the back nine.
Following A P's recent health scare he's phoned all his friends with his consultant's medical opinion the he hasn't got a pulse, but he's back home again.
Next Tuesday is the popular Texas Scramble organised by Brian Taylor.

Tuesday 6th October

Considering the dreary weather conditions at 9.00am today it was surprising that eighteen (drawn into pairs) competed for the Brindley Salver Greensomes won by Ian Porter and Andy Edwards with 41 points.
At the AGM, following the Secretary's and Match Secretary's reports and adoption of the accounts, the constitution and status quo remain unaltered.
The majority of trophy winners were present for the prizegiving and proceedings concluded with the Treasurer receiving subscriptions for the ensuing year.
Ivor Nelson advises that due to hip problems he will be unable to join us for the foreseeable future so we wish him a successful recovery.

Thursday 1st October

Glorious weather for the sixteen who played today. Ian Hind came first with 37 points and Harry Wright second with 33.
Today's forecast for Tuesday shows sun with heavy showers but hopefully we can raise sufficient numbers for the greensomes format.
Times for the AGM and Prizegiving will be published over the weekend if play is impracticable.
