Thursday 27th August

Surprisingly considering the howling gale, twelve turned out to make today's competition a qualifier for Sandpiper handicaps. David Low's 30 points cost him two shots and I was daft enough to come second at a cost of one shot for four quid prize money.
Next Tuesday's Bob Saunders Cup is an official club handicap qualifier and on Thursday we travel to Penrith for our return away match.

Windy conditions again for the J.Banks Trophy but twenty three turned out with Andy Edwards and Clive Milburn both carding 39 points. Clive won with the better last three holes.
Jim Johnson has Achilles tendon problems and will be out of action for a couple of months, Ivor Nelson has to have damage to his hip reassessed and the same goes for Willie Smith for tendon damage.
The good news is Roger Cutts managed to join us today and Tommy Neilly was able to walk part of the course.
Next Tuesday is the Bob Saunders Cup and Thursday our match at Penrith.

Tuesday 18th August

Not enough turned out today to make an official competition but congratulations to Joe Campbell
who played Jim Gilfillan in the Sandpipers Championship Final and after squandering a two up advantage on the 17th and 18th managed to clinch the title by winning the 20th.
On Thursday all the tee times are reserved for the Seniors' Open and next Tuesday is the Jimmy Banks Trophy stableford.

Thursday 13th August

Only thirteen attended in today's good conditions and the majority of scores were below par but Jim Gilfillan's excellent 44 points cost him seven shots and an equally impressive 40 points by Brian Taylor was worth £5.20 at a cost of four shots.
John Tudor bounded out to inform everyone he has made a good recovery and Peter Hetherington enjoyed a pint with us at the 19th.
Our Sandpipers Champion will be decided in a final between Joe Campbell and Jim Gilfillan

Tuesday 4th August

Wind gusting to 40mph from the south west today made the going tough for today's fifteen competitors. Both Ian Hind and Joe Penrice led with nett 77s and Ian winning the Ronnie Thompson Trophy by virtue of his high handicap giving him a better back nine.
This Thursday the course is reserved for the Junior Open and next Tuesday we play for the Carrick Trophy.
