Tuesday 30th September

The Jim Gilfillan and Harry Wright pairing won today's Brindley Greensomes Salver with 46 points followed on 43 by Alan Proud with Roger Cutts.
Secretary Geoff Waite chaired the ensuing AGM where there was some lively discussion about various subjects with the status quo being maintained except for our annual fixtures with Maryport which the overwhelming majority voted to abandon. Treasurer John Dixon produced a healthy balance sheet with several suggestions for how to reduce the surplus to the benefit of members.
Most members were present to receive their trophies at the prize giving that brought an end to a successful day.

Saxons v Celts Result

Willie Smith

Saxons' Captain of the Day Jim Johnson congratulated Celts' Captain Brian Taylor on a decisive victory and gave effusive praise to our pair of bankers (John Tudor and Mike Mapleton) who recorded our only win. Brian gave equally fulsome thanks to the Saxons co-opted to his team for their assistance in securing their five wins.

Penrith Match Result

Our new "buttercup shirt" look did us no good at all as we collapsed to a 7 - 1 drubbing.
On the brighter side under Captain Geoff Waite's leadership, the company and meal were good, the course in good condition and it didn't rain.
